About Panthers On The Prowl
Panthers on the Prowl has as its purpose "the development of a social coalition of business, government, support agencies and sporting bodies in the local community with the common goal of enhancing opportunities for our young people and their families to develop self-esteem and self-worth and to become positive contributors to the community and society as a whole".
To this end we have developed a range of programs to engage the community in a range of opportunities for building success.
We are about working together for better relationships across the Region. The schools program began in 2002 and has had a measurable impact on the lives of over 250 young people and their families. As well as this important individual gain, it has proved that communities and agencies working together can produce mutually beneficial outcomes for us all. Since 2002 we have expanded our programs and personnel to encompass seven different initiatives.
With the continued high level of support from the Penrith Rugby League family and support received from Federal and State Government and the generosity of our corporate partners (Cabe, Sanyo, C.U.A. & Westfields) we are a development service model. The social coalition which evolved during the initial primary class intervention model has encouraged us to do this. The building of social capital is at the centre of our enterprise. We believe that social capital is the strength and quality of the social connections within our community. All of our programs are monitored and evaluated by our partners at University of Western Sydney. These evaluations continue to drive our programs and allow us to be involved in the continuous improvement of them.
Panthers on the Prowl has recently also had the Teachers Aide program evaluation (conducted by UWS) published in the International Journal of Learning. To view the publication please have a look at the PDF Version. The evaluation was conducted on four of our existing programs that all continue to be run in partnership with local Public Schools. Our website seeks to inform and engage you in our enterprise. A suite of our activities and coming events together with input from our kids and community will keep us “playing for success".
